The Guardian recently featured Gretchen Peterson’s City Maps: A Coloring Book For Adults (a pretty awesome piece of cartography!) with a quiz to guess the locations of global cities from a blank street map. New Zealand wasn’t featured sadly, so I decided to create my own kiwi rendition.
How well do you know the layouts of New Zealand’s cities and towns? See if you can identify the location of each of the fifteen blank colouring maps below.
Answers are at the bottom of the page. Good luck!
The data used in these maps comes from OpenStreetMap, and isn’t guaranteed to be fully accurate or up to date (I’m looking at you, Christchurch rebuild!).
If there’s enough people out there interested in a spot of adult map colouring/cartography with these maps, I’ll look at releasing full versions of the maps shown here.
