A decidedly non-kiwi map that goes against the name of this blog, but I’ll allow it! Following the great feedback I received for my New Zealand State Highway Metro Maps, here’s an Australian highway rendition in the same style of the London Underground.
A note about the highways and towns used – it would be difficult to include every single major road and town in Australia in the space available, so simplifications are made. That said, if you spot any spelling mistakes (you Australians have some strange place names!) feel free to point out any corrections!

Looks awesome.
Pretty sure it’s Wollongong in NSW 🙂
Well spotted typo, thanks!
Look up Wittenoom, WA. Very interesting story of a town being taken off the map.
Kinbra in south australia is spelt kimba
Pretty sure tennant creek in northern territory is spelt tenant creek
Otherwise a fantastic map
Thanks for pointing out Kimba, though I’m pretty sure Tennant Creek is spelt correctly.
It [Tennant Creek] is spelt correct.
love what you have done, did you draw the map of oz your self or just find a stock image on the net? i would love to do something like this, if i ever came up with an idea ?
I created it on top of a base image of Australia as a guide, but since it’s a more abstract map there’s a lot more of a creative approach in where things end up.

And Kiwis have Whakapapa (in Māori, ‘wh’ soundx like ‘f’). So it is said ‘fakapapa’ but some people (i.e Americans) would say ‘fuck a papa’ if they found out that ‘wh’ sounds like ‘f’ in Māori.
