Aw my home isn’t there. Is the no ye reo word for reefton?
Reefton doesn’t appear to have a Te Reo name, several other smaller towns don’t have one either. Possibly because either the Maori name was lost or was never named.
Kia Ora. Interesting item, happily shared this on FaceBook. Advise that you have marked Makarora (North of Wanaka, which may be spelled Oanaka) as a second Mataura. Kind Regards.
Just wondering why Tahuna/Queenstown is in a larger font than Waihipai/Invercargill, considering the latter is has over three times the population and is a city in it’s own right, unlike Tahuna/Queenstown which is just an urban area in Queenstown-Lakes District.
Reefton area is Inangahua
I can see that there have been several updates suggested in the comments from Hamish and Jo. I would love to be able to use this map in some learning content I am creating for Canterbury DHB. Could you please let me know if you have an updated map? I will gladly credit you in the learning module.
Hi Alisha, this was an early version of the map – there’s now a much more comprehensive national map here: https://www.andrewdc.co.nz/project/te-reo-maori-map-of-aotearoa-new-zealand/
