2022 Pakistan Floods

Over a third of Pakistan was impacted by an unusually large and devastating flooding event, covering about 86,640 square kilometres. According to the BBC, the flooding has impacted roughly 33 million people, about 14% of Pakistan’s population.

Seeing the Pakistan floods from afar, it felt difficult to comprehend the sheer scale of the flooded areas. This map puts it into perspective by comparing the flooding from the event to scales that a New Zealander might be more familiar with.
