This 3D, interactive Story Map explores the form of Christchurch’s Central City using data from OpenStreetMap.
How much car parking is there in the Central City? How many street names are there? What’s the total length of cycleway paths? How much of the central city is buildings?
These maps explore the area’s built environment, car parks, streets, pedestrian spaces, parks and rivers, providing comprehensive infographics and statistics on the urban forms that define and shape the city.
The Story Map was orginally created as a 2D map, then later ‘remastered’ into a 3D digital twin-style exploration of the Central City during 2021’s 30 Day Map Challenge.
