Renditions of New Zealand's varied and dynamic topographic landscape, often taking inspiration from historical maps.

Key Points

  • Terrain maps incorporating contour lines and detailed labelling of coastlines, bays and islands.
  • Inspired by historical maps and charts, such as those found in the excellent 'Unfolding the Map' Exhibition at the National Library in Wellington.
  • A custom topographic map of a location of your choice is also available upon request.

New Zealand is the home of some very interesting and varied terrain, which makes for some really cool maps. My topographic maps make use of contour lines, coastlines and lake datasets to create a line based representations of interesting physical landscapes, with a focus on labelling nautical features such as bays and islands in the style of early historical maps. The resulting maps reveal intriguing and beautiful patterns in the landscape, created out of curiosity.

Some of the maps here were made as gifts that were well received by friends and family. Interested in a custom map of your own? Let me know!
